Hearing is one of the body's five senses. But listening is an art. - Frank Tyger

Club History

Noontime Nomads chartered in 1991

The Noontime Nomads was started in 1991 by Becky Olson, a former District 7 Governor and chartered in September 1992. The Club first met in the Lincoln Center since many club members work in one of the Lincoln buildings or nearby.

Meetings Historically of a Nomadic Nature

Although the Noontime Nomads had always met at the Lincoln Center, the Club has not always been able to schedule the same room for meetings. Thus, the Club name was identified as a result of the nomadic nature of the meeting locations. In January 2004 we moved to another location.

We meet at the Tigard Public Library and sometimes will meet at the WestView Plaza

Our Club has had to relocate to the Tigard Public Library at 13500 SW Hall Blvd. Tigard, OR 97223 in September 2004. Our alternate location will be the WestView Plaza at 10725 SW Barbur Blvd. Ste. 200, Portland, OR 97219. No matter the meeting location, the Club has consistently demonstrated dedication to the Toastmaster standards and has always had a strong membership of enthusiastic Toastmasters.

Leaders are built within the Club

This warm and welcoming group of Toastmasters has also demonstrated a continuing willingness to serve as leaders, whether at the Club level or beyond. Club members have included two District 7 Governors, Area Governors, a DTM and other District 7 chairpersons.
