-
You will develop leadership skills through experience.

You will have professionally prepared materials and program resources
covering speaking, listening, audiovisual techniques, debate format,
and the use of parliamentary procedure.

You will develop communication skills through participation in
the "learn by doing" Toastmasters program.
-
It will provide an affiliation with an International Education
Association.
-
It will provide opportunities for personal and occupational recognition
based on improved abilities and expanded experiences.
-
You will have the satisfaction of helping others improve their
communication and leadership skills while improving your own skills.
What Motivates a Toastmaster?
Motivation is different for each person. Public speaking is the number
one fear in America today, greater than the fear of death. Yet the communication
skill is the number one asset employers are looking for. Motivation
is determined by how badly you want to improve yourself as a leader,
a communicator, and a public speaker.
How much time is involved?
Meetings are every Wednesday. They last 60 minutes over the lunch hour.
It does take time to prepare for a formal speech and to be the Toastmaster.
If you need to miss a meeting, please let the Educational Vice President
know. You are going to get out what you put in. How much time do you
want to spend developing your communication and leadership skills?
What does it cost?
The rates are surprisingly reasonable. You're asked to pay the combination
of three fees: the new member fee of $16, the Toastmaster International
dues and Club dues. The regular dues, which are a combination of the
International and Club dues, are $33 every six months and are collected
in March and September of each year. If you join in the middle of that
time, the dues are prorated evenly by how many months are left in the
dues period. The dues are prorated at $3 per month for International
and $2.50 per month for Club dues. Please refer to the chart below:

What are the fees and dues for?
Your new member fee pays for your first manual of 10 speeches, three
manuals on how to give effective evaluations, use of your voice, and
how to add in gestures, and your new member packet with information
on Toastmasters. International dues pay for a monthly Toastmaster magazine
filled with great articles and hints on being a better speaker and pay
for administering the Toastmasters support offices. Club dues are used
to pay for community programs such as youth leadership, manuals for
the club, club supplies, and such.
Sounds great! Who do I make my check out to?
Make your check out to Noontime Nomads. Please give any officer of
the club your check and completed application. Make sure that you write
the name of the person who referred you to our club on that application.
Thank you for joining! Your new member materials should be mailed to
you within the next few weeks. In the mean time, you can begin preparing
for your first speech: the Icebreaker.
